School students in Rajasthan commute on risky rickety jugaads

Despite the Supreme Court’s announcement on ban of jugaads or assembled vehicles in 2012 in Rajasthan, still the mode of public transport is in use in the state, in a pitiable manner, ferrying school kids. Thousands of school students in Bharatpur district in the state take these vehicles everyday to travel to their schools, risking their lives. A source mentions that more than 1400 private and government-run schools in the district use jugaads to ferry their students. Students travel 1-15 km on these vehicles everyday with each jugaad carrying 25-30 of them. These rickety quadricycle vehicles are often reported to be overturned. The students choose these vehicles because they cannot afford bus.
