School hours to be shortened to save money in Bristol
Parents called it ‘diabolical’ when a school trust at Bristol in the southwest of England formed seven schools to shorten teaching hours in order to save money. Dave Baker of Olympus Trust School said it was due to government’s cuts that left things at a ‘crisis point’. Though a union said the idea was terrible, families deserved to know the truth about funding. However, a spokesperson from the Department for Education (DfE) opined the new funding plans would increase the trust’s budget by 2.4 percent.
