PM lays foundation stone for new AIIMS at Gorakhpur
Foundation stone for a new All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) has been laid by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh. To be built at an estimated cost of Rs 1,011 crore in an area of 112 acre land, an exclusive range of facilities will be available in the newly planned medical institute with a hospital of 750 beds besides 300 super-specialty beds. Every batch at the institute will have 100 medical students, plus 60 in nursing. Unveiling of the new AIIMS in the eastern Uttar Pradesh town will directly benefit the residents of 14 districts in the region as well as those in the neighbouring areas of Bihar. Special facilities at the hospital will also include emergency/trauma and AYUSH departments.
