‘India can reap demographic dividend only if kids are properly educated’: Pranab Mukherjee

At an event of Akshaya Patra Foundation in Bengaluru, President Pranab Mukherjee announced that India could reap the demographic dividend only if the country succeeds in educating and skilling the youth, especially the children. He asserted that India by 2030 will have the youngest population in the world with 50 percent of them in the age group of 20-50 years. By that time, according to the president, India will have a huge population of working hands, outnumbering the US, Europe and China. Appreciating the commendable job of Akshaya Patra Foundation filling the stomachs of school children, with supports and funds from the government and other organisations, the president stated that hunger still remained a big issue in the country because of social structure and various other reasons.
