Bihar to have two new universities at Patna and Purnea


After a special meeting of the state cabinet, presided over by Bihar CM Nitish Kumar, the cabinet has recently given its approval to open two new universities in Patna and Purnea. Several colleges currently affiliated to BN Mandal University would be brought under the new Purnea University. Similarly, those colleges in Patna and Nalanda, attached to Magadh University at present, would come under the newly unveiled Patliputra University in the state capital. As on today, Bihar has around 25 UGC recognised universities and institutes of higher learning, which include Nalanda University, Magadh University, IIT, NIT, Bihar Agricultural University, Chanakya National Law University, Patna University, among others.
