42 brilliant kids honoured on Children’s Day


Acknowledging excellence in academic projects undertaken by kids from across the country, President Pranab Mukherjee had given away 42 awards under diverse categories on the eve of Children’s Day 2016. The awards were categorised as National Child Awards for Exceptional Achievements, National Awards for Child Welfare and Rajiv Gandhi Manav Seva Award, designed for Paralympics swimmer, chess player, equestrians, and students with keen interest in music and several technological innovations. Of the young awardees, a 14-year-old class VII student from Odisha, Shubhendu Kumar Sahu, was awarded with the National Child Award for ‘Exceptional Achievement, in recognition of his science project ‘Gift for Farmers’—an innovative device that helps farmers in sowing, soil tilling, pesticide sprinkling, cutting and processing of paddy crops.
