257 schools selected for establishment of Atal Tinkering Labs


Under one of its Atal Innovation Mission (AIM) initiatives, NITI Aayog has funded for the establishment of 500 Atal Tinkering Laboratories (ATL) in schools all over India. A total of 13,005 schools from far and near corners of the country have applied for the project. Of them, 595 schools were shortlisted for the final selection through ‘Innovation Challenge’ in which each of the school presented projects on social and environmental issues. On the basis of their presentations, 257 schools from all over the country were selected for the establishment of ATL, which provides students a work space for shaping their ideas and an opportunity to work with tools and equipments, and to understand the basic concepts of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics).
